Pergola Airflow Modeler

Pick a preset or flip a switch. The flow keeps running and adapts, and every readout shows what it was before the change and how much it moved.

Recorded runs

Press Record once the readouts have settled. Values are indexes: 100 is the concentration at the source. Heat is degrees F above outdoor air, averaged over the zone.

What this model is

A two-dimensional slice through the pergola, 0.4 ft cells, solving incompressible air motion with buoyancy from the grill, passive smoke tracers, canopy hoods with suction, fans as actuator lines, and wind entering from one end. It cannot show the open north side of the real pergola, so the leakage setting stands in for it. Use it to see the shape of the flow and to compare options against each other, not to read absolute exposure. The three dimensional runs behind these numbers use the same physics on the whole site, on the built geometry: 49 ft 6 in by 21 ft 10 in, 9 ft 6 in clear under the beams, four louver panels of 24 ft 9 in by 10 ft 11 in.
